April 2021 Debt Payoff Progress

This was a big month for me! I turned 29. Since coronavirus is still alive and kicking, this mean that it was yet another quarantine birthday.

I am lucky that my friends and family made my birthday week a special event. One of my best friends threw a backyard party for me with delicious tacos, drinks and a cake. My other best friend and her wife (also my close and dear friend) took me out to eat at Clever Koi for some delicious ramen and drinks.

My older sister also took me out to eat at Hula’s Modern Tiki and my boyfriend got me a bag of edible goodies.

Furthermore, my graduate school friends got me cookies & cupcakes from my favorite bakery, Urban Cookies. They also ordered me Thai food for lunch and got me a bottle of wine and some bath bombs.

What an amazing week. I ate a cupcake each day.

Truly, I consider myself lucky to have such a great group of people who I can count on.

This month was also special because I used it as a time for reflection. For instance, I took some time to list out the top 5 things I hope to accomplish during my last year of my 20s.

  1. Reach 100K invested
  2. Plan An Awesome 30th Birthday Trip
  3. Stick To A Consistent Routine With A Therapist
  4. Complete The Bright Angel Hike
  5. Be Kinder To Myself (Technically This Is Ongoing)

For a quick overview of my full financial goals that I hope to hit before 30, check out this short video linked below.

CURRENT DEBT TOTALS

I paid off my student loans in December of 2020! Here is my full back story of how I got myself in over $25K of debt despite getting a great scholarship and graduating a semester early.

Now I only have my car loan to go!

  • Student Loans = ZERO
  • Car Loan = $8,526.08

Total Debt As Of April 2021: $8,526.08

THOUGHTS ON DEBT PAYOFF PROGRESS

After paying off over $20k of debt in one year, my main focus has changed from debt pay down to wealth building. So this month, I only paid Honda $404.65. That will be the case going forward. There really is not a reason to pay extra on it.

My interest rate, in my opinion, is pretty low. I can earn way more by putting my money back into my business.
