At the start of the year I created 5 main goals to track in addition to trying to cashflow $40K in expenses. My three main goal categories are Financial, Educational and Physical. Below is a summary of my progress and thoughts thus far.
FINANCIAL GOALS:
1. PAY OFF MY CAR LOAN
I bought a brand new Honda Civic in 2018 with a loan balance of $23,123.23 at an interest rate of 1.9%.
As of the publication of this article, I have $4,179.86 left to pay on my loan. My goal is to have this paid off by the end of 2022. I am simply tired of including it in my monthly budget.
EDUCATIONAL GOALS
2. SQL CERTIFICATION
I have the following things to complete and then I will take my damn SQL certification.
- LearnSQL Course (100% complete)
- Udemy Oracle Full Length Test #1
- Udemy Oracle Full Length Test #2
- Udemy Oracle Full Length Test #3
- Udemy Oracle Full Length Test #4
3. COMPLETE MY DUOLINGO COURSE
I have had DuoLingo installed on my phone since 2017…
There are 9 units for me to complete to be done with this course and I currently am on Unit 3.
PHYSICAL GOALS
4. GET To My Goal Weight Range
In addition to actually tracking my weight, I wanted to also track my workout progress.
I signed up for OrangeTheory on January 13, 2022 with the intention of going to a minimum of 4 workouts a week.
So far, my current weight fluctuates between 172-173lbs. My waist measurement is 32.1 inches and my hip measurement is 42.5 inches.
I still have a long way to go.
5. COMPLETE BRIGHT ANGEL TRAIL
Originally, I had planned to hike the Bright Angel Trail in October 2021, but I ended up skipping it.
So far we have completed 2 hikes in 2022 so this goal isn’t going so great either. I thought I would complete the hike in April but that is looking less and less like a possibility.
Thoughts On 2022 Goals Q1
Meh. I honestly don’t feel like I have progressed that much in my goals this year. I still owe nearly 5 stacks on my car and my weight loss progress has been soooooo slow.
I want to fast forward to Q2 because I know a big shift is coming in April.
To not be a complete Debbie Downer, I guess I can highlight what I have learned so far this year. I think the biggest lesson is that I need to put in the work. Thankfully, there are resources to help me get where I want to go.
However, I need to be the person to seek those resources and put into practice the tools I have learned.
It is a hard pill to swallow because I think I have been conditioned to look for the expert or “key”. I am that key.
Knowledge alone does not create change. Which is unfortunate but true. The next steps is to actually put that knowledge into action. This will be the aspect I choose to work on for the next months of this year and throughout my life.
