At the start of the year I created 5 main goals to track in addition to the $40K cashflow. My three main goal categories are Financial, Educational and Physical. Below is a summary of my progress and thoughts thus far.
FINANCIAL GOALS:
1. PAY OFF MY CAR LOAN
I bought a brand new Honda Civic in 2018 with a loan balance of $23,123.23 at an interest rate of 1.9%. As of the publication of this article, I have $2,904.03 left to pay on my loan.
One, it feels wild that I have been tracking my progress towards paying this off since December 2019.
Two, I am so glad that I am almost done!
EDUCATIONAL GOALS
2. SQL CERTIFICATION
Prior to getting my new job, my goal was to get my SQL certification. I still want to get this certification, but it feels less urgent now. Originally, my plan was to complete all the tests below and then take the certification through Oracle. I think if I pace it out and complete a test a month, I should be on pace to take my certification by the end of the year.
- LearnSQL Course (100% complete)
- Udemy Oracle Full Length Test #1
- Udemy Oracle Full Length Test #2
- Udemy Oracle Full Length Test #3
- Udemy Oracle Full Length Test #4
3. COMPLETE MY DUOLINGO COURSE
There are 9 units for me to complete to be done with this course and I currently am on lesson 85 of 180 in Unit 3.
This course is actually at the point where I am finding it difficult so I feel less inclined to actually hop on and study.
PHYSICAL GOALS
4. GET TO MY GOAL WEIGHT RANGE
Meh.
5. COMPLETE BRIGHT ANGEL TRAIL
Originally, I had planned to hike the Bright Angel Trail in October 2021, but I ended up skipping it.
My next plan is to technically complete this hike in Spring 2023. I may go in October but that is highly dependent on if I kick it into gear with more hikes this year. This is something I am totally capable of doing. In 2020, I did over 65 hikes of varying intensity (1-8 miles). So I know I can do it. I just need to carve in time to get it completed.
THOUGHTS ON 2022 GOALS Q2
Overall, I think I am doing great. I am very proud of myself for taking the steps needed to become the type of person I want to be.
I finally got the type of job I have been working towards over the last two years and I am thrilled. My new company is actually pretty great and I feel so fortunate to be working where I am at.
We also recently moved into a house (where I hope to stay the next 3 years) and I love all the space I have and my own office.
It’s cliche, but the older I get, the faster time seems to go by. This year thus far has been one of incredible personal growth and for that I am grateful.
