June 2022 Debt Payoff progress

I was planning on paying off the remainder of this debt this month but diverted by plans. I first started my debt journey in December 2019 with a total debt balance of $31,286.97.

At the time, I still owed ($13,957.01) on my Honda Civic as well as ($17,329.96) from grad school loans. The only reason this balance is lower is because I was paying towards my student loans while in grad school and I had been paying a bit extra on my car.

Originally, I had taken out $21K for my car and $25K for grad school ($46K in total).

CURRENT DEBT TOTALS

STUDENT LOANS = ZERO
CAR LOAN = $2,904.03

Total Debt As Of June 30, 2022: $2,904.03

THOUGHTS ON CURRENT DEBT TOTALS

Initially, my main goal was to pay off this debt as soon as possible. Now, I realize I just don’t care.

It will get paid off when it gets paid off.

My primary goal now is to get my emergency fund up. I already have my investments set on auto for the year to max out my 401K, HSA and to contribute 10% of my after tax money to my ESPP. Cash is king though, and I want to switch my focus on having a healthy cash reserve.

In a crunch, I can always sell off my investments in my brokerage account. However, I would want that to be my last resort.
