My 29th Birthday and Other April 2021 Updates

I am a Black Millennial on the journey towards become financially independent! Down below I share my monthly updates and progress for each goal on my journey towards reaching FIRE and retiring early.

FINANCIAL GOALS:

1. MAX OUT MY 401K

I am on track to max out my 401K by the end of August 2021! That means I get my full check back for the last 4 months of the year.

My plan with this money is to put it towards a house savings fund + invest into my brokerage account. My ultimate goal for 2021 is to reach 100K invested by the end of the year.

2. PAY OFF MY CAR LOAN

I paid back what is owed on my car this month: $404.65. Check out the full story about my progress and my debt pay off journey.

3. CONTINUE DONATING

Still doing well with this goal. I donate 5% of my after tax income.

EDUCATIONAL GOALS

4. SQL CERTIFICATION

I go back and forth on this goal. It is really hard to concentrate and do the required learning for this. I bought LinkedIn Learning but I have yet to study for the past 4 months. That just means $65.09 down the drain each month.

5. COMPLETE MY DUOLINGO COURSE

I am on Day 1 of Duolingo at the start of this post. I fell off on my lessons and need to get back on track. This is just one more thing on my to do list.

PHYSICAL GOALS

6. GET MY 5K TIME DOWN UNDER 25 MINUTES

I still have yet to run a single mile.

7. COMPLETE BRIGHT ANGEL TRAIL

My goal is to complete 65 hikes this year in addition to the Bright Angel trail (12 miles round trip). It is still possible, but it is also not looking that great for me. So far, I have completed 10 hikes. And it is nearly June. Cue sad face.

OTHER GOALS

8. BE CONSISTENT WITH YOUTUBE

I no longer create content for my YouTube channel. The last thing I did was this collab video about my weekly spend. I have ideas for videos, just not enough time to produce them. I wish I could clone myself.

9. CREATE 250 ITEMS ACROSS MY SHOPS

I am currently at 75 items created so far this year. I have decided to out source this lol. My niece is going to be uploading my designs across my various stores because, I do not have time. Since it is the summer time, she has plenty of time anyways + I am paying her. A win-win for all.

10. BE CONSISTENT WITH MY BLOG

So I am mostly on track with this. I did miss a week of posting, but I just made two posts in the following week to make up for it. (This is one of them)
