Debt Payoff Progress: March 2020

MARCH 2020 DEBT PAY OFF PROGRESS

I first learned about the FIRE Movement during my second year of working in Corporate America. It completely changed my outlook on life.

I went from spending $300 a month eating out, to trying to figure out how the F*ck I was going to move forward in life.

If you want to know the FULL back story of how I got myself in this mess, check it out here.

If you have any loans you are trying to get rid of and would like to start your journey, grab the personal finance bundle mentioned below. It has been instrumental in helping me track my debt payoff journey.

My goal now is to finish paying off both my student loans and my car loans.

Expect me to report back here EVERY SINGLE MONTH until I am debt free.

CURRENT DEBT TOTALS: March 2020

  • Student Loans – $15,645.06
  • Car – $12,559.19

Total Debt As Of March 2020: $28,204.25

Amount Down From Last Month: $966.56

Thoughts On March 2020 Progress

March 2020 progress did not go as planned. At all. It is not an understatement when I say, Coronavirus truly turned all of my plans upside down.

Instead of focusing on throwing all my money on my debt, I came up with a different plan. SAVE.

To be honest, my emergency fund needs more money. This is especially true in the case that either I or my partner lose our jobs. Nothing is guaranteed. Ever.

So instead of putting the (now laughable) $1,200 towards my student loans. I ended up using that money for necessities.

For instance, I bought a water filter, exercise equipment and extra dried food. The rest of my money I split towards my Roth IRA and my emergency fund.

I am still trying to reach the max for 2019. It is a very high priority to me and my long term goals.

Going FOrward

I have no idea. Just kidding. Well, kind of.

My plans going forward is to continue working on my side hustles and to keep blogging. I still have a long list of goals I am trying to reach by the end of 2020.

If you have any loans you are trying to get rid of, feel free to come along the journey with me! Please share which methods you are using to eliminate your debt!
