When I first started documenting my debt free journey, my total debt was $31,286.97. Thankfully, I had been paying on my loans before discovering the FIRE movement, otherwise the number above would have been much larger.
At the time, my $31K of debt included a car loan on a Honda Civic ($13,957.01) and my outstanding student loans from grad school ($17,329.96).
Originally my car loan was $23,123.33 and my student loans was $25,000. However, I had been making payments along the way to reduce my loan balance.
CURRENT DEBT TOTALS
STUDENT LOANS = ZERO
CAR LOAN = $4,580.21
Total Debt As Of February 28, 2022: $4,580.21
THOUGHTS ON CURRENT DEBT TOTALS
I cannot wait until this debt is GONE. Seriously.
I have other financial goals to get to and this is just a $404.65 drag each month. When I get an influx of income (hopefully end of April), I am just going to pay this off. I will never ever ever buy a brand new car as long as I live. This ranks in among the top 3 of my worst financial decisions.
